Now available at the Black Milk store for a mere US$80 (it may not stay that way!)
Another new release tomorrow. :)
p.s. The actual product will have one less shredded thing at the top (so they sit under your backside a little nicer...!) Just thought you should know.
p.s. If you are very very short or very very long and you really want your leggings cut slightly shorter or slightly longer, feel free to leave a note in PayPal when you order and I'll take care of it (I get asked about that one a lot...)
I read a little post in the Frisky today which had the following quote:
You know how your legs feel so fabulous when you take off a pair of tights at the end of the day? They’d probably feel twice as free when you let them out of these leg Cages.
Now, I don't have an attitude here, because the article was quite positive towards my humble endeavors in the big bad world of fashion (I think!), but there is an assumption here that I'm going to disagree with. It's something which pops up quite a bit when people comment on blogs/articles that mention the Cages ("That must feel horrible on your legs! Aaaaargh!").
Assumption: These are covered in chains so therefore they must be uncomfortable.
Now I can understand how someone might come to that conclusion. After all, these garments do have almost 7 metres of chain on them. That's over 20 feet of chain!
However, let me be very clear that the cages are super comfortable to wear. Seriously. In fact, the first prototype I designed I wore to bed that night and slept like a baby. An extremely avant-garde baby.
You can even jump in them - quod erat demonstrandum.
The key, my dear friends, is the fact that all the chains are connected to the tights through a network of elastic loops, which means that the chains stretch. Counterintuitive as that may seem, the Cages really do have stretchy chains.
In fact, I spent three days solidly scheming and plotting in my brain how I could make chains that would move with the tights and fit to the legs. Tick!
Within 30 seconds of wearing them you will totally forget how much chain you have on your legs - I promise.
I have nothing more to add. Zebs are hot. Just accept it.
As a result of my post about fashion capitals of the world two cities have received special mention...
1. Tokyo - why the hell was it not ranked higher?
2. Vegas - why the hell was it on the list?
No one seems to be disputing the controversial omission of Brisbane.
An interesting kind of cross-global collaboration between Queen Michelle and myself lead to the creation of the most difficult of all the Black Milk range to make - the dreaded Lace Ups! The cool thing about the Lace Ups is that if you don't like the laces I've got in there, you can pull them out and add your own. I sent QM an unlaced pair, and she seems to have managed (!)
Wow. Somewhat obliquely, my experience creating these reminded me that large portions of my life seem to consist of the following pattern:
1. Woman tells me something
2. I don't think the woman is right and I ignore the woman's advice
3. I reconsider, and against my better judgment, do what the woman suggested I do
4. I realise that the woman was right all along.
5. I apologise to the woman for not listening in the beginning.
Like clockwork. Sadly, I suspect this isn't the last time this pattern will occur.
Okay - I'm embarrassed by how much I'm posing here...
Myself with the amazing TA - stylist extraordinaire - rocking out the Black Wet Look Leggings (even though she owns almost the entire Black Milk catalogue!) If you get a pair, you'll be this happy too (the euphoria wears off after 24 hours).
I get a lot of email enquiries from girls saying "I like the Spidermans (or Cages, or Spartans etc.) but I'm not sure if I've got the legs to pull it off..."
And my standard reply is... "Start with the Black Wet Look, see how they feel, and if you're a fan, look at getting something more adventurous."
They go with everything.

p.s. Okay - one more pic of me. When we're doing photo shoots, I'm the guy who has to carry all the bags. It's a hard life.
4. Tomorrow I will be breaking with my usual habit and I'll be posting a couple of photos of myself.... oooooh. That's kind of exciting, huh? (I told you this post was self indulgent!!!)
5. I'm planning a big photo shoot on Saturday so I'm going to be focus on designing a couple of new styles tomorrow... so for all you guys who ordered stuff today, sorry, but I'll post your stuff Monday. :) Trust me, when you see the cool stuff I'm working on, you'll understand. (I hope).
6. Another BlackMilk playing card (collect the whole set!)
Available at the BlackMilk shop. :) I changed the background to something more... erm, black.

p.s. My criticism of the Chanel two tones has been slightly controversial. Which is more flattering to the female form - more transparency up top or more transparency below? Stay posted for a real example...
p.s. Like the playing card effect above? I'm quite proud of that!
Okay, I'm going to crank the arrogance up to 11 here.. but I can't resist. I want you to look at the following pic:
Now, as regulars will know, I'm a big fan of two tone styles, and I love Chanel. However, I can't help but feel that Herr Lagerfeld has made a mistake here (breathe in sharply). "But James, what mistake could you possible be referring to?" I hear you ask (that's right, I can actually hear you from where I'm sitting).
Well, notice we have two distinct black opacities on the leg, one lighter, and one darker. Here's where I think the mistake is:
- The darker opacity should have gone at the bottom. -
In my humble opinion. Feel free to disagree with me.
Of course, now that I've gone on record, I'm going to have to back it up with some evidence. I'll sew up something demonstrating what I mean once I've got some time - I promise - and you guys can judge for yourselves. Of course, if my one's suck.... I'll just email Karl and apologise.
Same thing with Henry Holland (thanks Jessica for the link!):
They are amazing and awesome and all that (seriously, I love them), but why are we going dark to light as we go downwards? Why not start dark at the bottom and gradually get lighter as you go up the leg?
Does anyone agree with me on this one? (Cue crickets...)

p.s. A big thank you to all those who voted for m in the Follow the Fashion promotion. I didn't do very well, probably because they only wanted to count votes from local people. Oh well - I guess I'm staying on the internet!
